Short description: During the course, students become familiar with the species that are closely related to companion animals. They learn a wide range of species from all over the world from different taxonomic groups, ie. Canines, felines, rodents, etc. These are issues related to their biology, evolution and effects of domestication of companion animals.
Full description: The overall purpose of the course is to introduce students with pets systematic; ancestors and evolution of pets; relatives species to pets – they characteristic and biology; effects of domestication in field of they biology and behaviour; changes in genetics of this species.

Learning outcomes: After course completion In area of knowledge: 1. Student has knowledge about recognize different species, which are ancestors or relatives of pets. 2. Student describes they biology, occurrence and characteristic. 3. Student determinde the differences in structure of the body, behaviour, genetics etc., which are as effects of evolution and domestication. In area of skills: 1. Student compares wilde and domestic species and can define changes which are results of domestication process. 2. Student analyze condition of population and human influence. In area of social competences: 1. Student is aware of the responsibility for shaping the population and its evolutions. 2. Student understands the need to predict consequences of actions taken in nature.
Assessment methods and assessment criteria: Grade obtain at lecture is 60% of the total evaluation. Grade obtain on class from presentation is 40% of the total evaluation.
